Ridiculous.. I don’t think gauged ears or grills are any more distracting than the latest shirt or pants. Let the kids explore themselves and their self-expression. They’ll have plenty of time in life to learn how to “fit into the workplace” or they’ll create their own workplace. It is not the school’s job to mold the children into what they think they should be. It is the school’s job to provide the opportunity for education, it’s up to the kids (with the guidance of parents) to take advantage of that opportunity.

I spent the weekend up in Wisconsin for some camping and whitewater
rafting on the Wolf River. We lost all cell signal well before we made
it back through the winding roads to our campsite, the sidekick was off
the entire weekend. It was a good break, no phone calls to answer, no
emails or text messages. Just the woods, rafting, and having a good
time. The pictures were snapped on our way out, where we stopped at
Smokey Falls (the last rapid/waterfall) to take a picture. I guess the
river decided I’d do this one standing up, since we hit a rock or
something that bounced me to my feet and I surfed the way down upright.
Lotsof fun, a good group of people, and plenty of excitement. But now
I’m sore, tired and ready for a nice nap. 
So I’m trying to describe how I feel to a friend and I find myself unable to come up with a word to truly describe the feeling. Let’s see if anyone else can come up with one. The feeling is happiness and joy for something happening for someone else, while at the same time wanting the same thing. For example, your older brother graduating college. You’re happy for him, and at the same time you can’t wait for the day that you get to graduate college. The first word that comes to mind is jealous or envious, but both of those contain such negative connotations. (from dictionary.com)

There has to be a word that expresses the elation you have for a fellow person, but also describes your desire for the same. Or is there not a word because our society is so used to being jealous or envious of one another instead of sharing in the joy?

I found Tribe again a few months ago and have spent a lot of time on there meeting really interesting people. Compared to the other social networking sites it seems to have a lot more substance, more real people, less spam, and a lot more interesting dicussion. Of course the fact that it’s overrun by Burners doesn’t hurt. :) If you want to add me, here I am.
Ninth Wave Designs: The Search for the Wild Blackwing
Not having used a pencil regularly in years, I find it interesting to see people put so much time and effort into finding one that works for them. Everybody has something they care a great deal about. I guess it’s the equivalent of finding the right mouse for us computer geeks. I settled with a Logitech MX310 as it seems to fit well. I now have 3 or 4 of them at the office and at home. They’re cheap optical mice, last long, and have just enough buttons.
I was laying in bed this morning with my arm like so, when Gabby decided
she wanted to join me. She jumped up and walked alongside my body,
skimmed down my arm with her paw, stepping right on the ball. Now its
bruised, red, swollen, and painful. And I had almost declared it healed
after 7 weeks.
