Poe/Depeche Mode in Cleveland

Well, I'm sitting at home writing this, just before getting ready to go to sleep and then wake up at 5:30 to fly out to Idaho to go whitewater rafting. This is mainly about Sunday though. On Sunday, Britni and I hopped in the car and headed on up to Cleveland to catch the Poe and Depeche Mode concert. We were supposed to meet up with the Angry-Psychos and Poe and Crew at Shooters in the Flats at 1pm, but we ended up getting so lost (damn MapQuest) that we showed up 2 hours late, and not an Angry-Psycho in sight. Oh well, we kept a good attitude and each other sane and headed off to the Blossom area. A quick stop at Applebee's for dinner, and then the back way to Blossom, dodging closed roads and following lonely country roads. We arrived at Blossom, and headed towards the amphitheater. We didn't go in right away though. I had to get rid of two tickets as the wonderful Dan from the AP list had secured me two comps and I had purchased an additional two. So we hung out and chatted with people, I met a few APs, and we handed out a bunch of really nice color flyers to advertise Poe. I never caught the names of the two girls that helped me hand them out though. Anyways, we handed out all our flyers, and I unloaded the two extra tickets to some girls who I decided to play the "good Samaritan to" (in Britni's words) for only $40. The show wasn't sold out and so it was hard to get rid of extra tickets. They were the only ones interested and we had been trying for an hour already. We stuck around after that though and helped a friendly German couple from Pittsburgh sell their one front section ticket. They sold it a little later and we headed in for drinks. As we sat chatting on the lawn, we heard applause and turned to see Poe taking the stage. Britni and I rushed down to our seats as Control took over the Amphitheater. The show was great. Control was by far the best I had ever heard it. It's been taken apart completely and rebuilt from the original version. They also performed Haunted, 5 and a half minute hallway, Wild, Angry Johnny, and Trigger Happy Jack. It was great to hear the old songs, as well as hearing new stuff live in concert finally. And even though there was no meet and greet with Poe and crew, I did manage to bump into Cody, or rather I jumped out of my seat when I saw him walk by. We sat and chatted for a few until one of the security people saw us out of our seats and came over to tell us to sit back down. Cody simply flashed her his all access pass, and told her to give us a minute. hehe He asked how my spinning was coming along and I lamented to him about the lack of space to set up my turntables. I told him that I loved the new version of Control, and I gave him the copies of the CDs I had made for Poe and Mark that had video from poe.navelsex.com on them. He apologized for not being able to get us backstage or anything, and explained how Depeche Mode had really cracked down and tightened security. But he was very positive about being able to hang out at the Rock Hall show on July 11th, so I'm looking forward to that. :) Anyways, after chatting with Cody and getting the cds on their way to Poe and Mark, I could finally relax and enjoy Depeche Mode. :) They were good, and played two of my favorites (and most people's favorites) Enjoy the Silence and Personal Jesus. Their new stuff was good as well. I felt kind of weird being surrounded by a bunch of goth-dressed people, but oh well, I could relate cause I used to be "goth", but I just wish they'd smile more often. Life doesn't suck, it kicks ass. :)
