Chernobyl

Riding through Chernobyl

Thanks to SlashDot I found the above site about a Russian woman who rides her motorcycle through Chernobyl taking pictures and radiation readings. A very interesting site. It's fascinating, but a little depressing. She talks about how empty the town is now, how the animals have moved in, the deafening silence of an empty town, and how everything remains how it was years ago when the people left. I'd love to be able to do this. Ever since I was young and read stories about life after nuclear destruction, or years into the future, I've wanted to experience it. All the technology and buildings and structures built to support millions of people, but now it's just you. I'd love to run through the buildings, go to all the places you were never allowed to go to, explore all the stories hidden in each building, etc. But then when I was done, I'd like to set everything back to the way it was before any sort of disaster such as that. hehe
