Dermal Punch Take 2

Sunday night I went over to Tony and Roberta's so Brit could get her hair redyed by Roberta. Roberta had gotten her lip pierced and it looked good and inspired me to get my other ear done. When Tony got home from band practice he readied the dermal puncing utensils. While going through the jewelry and tools we decided to taper my existing punch from a 4g to a 2g with a 0g taper. OUch.. but it was quick. Then we go to the dermal punching. The tools: a 6mm punch, a potato in place of a cork, and large gauge ring.

Tony readied the punch and I took a few deep breaths and *CRUNCH*, through my ear and into the potato the dermal punch went. A little too far that is. The plastic housing of the dermal punch actually went into my ear, doing a bit of tearing. We soon discovered that that ruled out the large ring we were going to put in there as the weight would pull on my ear and result in a lot more blood.

After about 10 minutes of rushing around looking for a plug that was the right gauge Roberta was generous enough to donate the plug in her cartilege to my bleeding ear. We got that in and then spent some time playing with the chunk of ear.

Then I went home and went to bed with a large 2g ring in one ear, and a loose 2g plug in the other. I woke up the next morning with my ear covered in blood, dripping down my neck and into my hair. ick.. Called in to work because I was exhausted, not having gotten any decent sleep. The large ring was driving me nuts with it's enourmous weight and swinging around everytime my head moved.

So after getting up I went to the mall to the nearest body jewelry shop to get plugs for my poor ears. Looking kind of like a dorky pirate I found some 0g black chrome plugs and put them in with no trouble once I got home.

Anyways, I'm loving them, I'll get better pics up at my gallery soon. There's also a video up for those on high speed (it's 33mb) and not squeamish about a bit of blood.
