Back at school, long drive, uggh. I listened to the Fellowship of the Ring the whole way up though, which helped pass the time. After being home in a nice empty room, my room feels incredibly crowded, so it looks like I'm gonna do some cleaning today while I wait for Britni and everyone to get back to school. :) Went and deposited a chunk of cash in the bank, compliments of mom. Thank god for moms. :) Now I can pay off my Discover card and hide it away in the dark corner of some drawer. Off to clean the room and put away stuff.
Proof that my old minivan was cool. :) This isn't my old car per say, but it does show the raw power underneath the hood of that car underappreciated by so many soccer moms.
So I was supposed to get to bed at a decent time tonight. That didn't happen. Big surprise there. What did happen was a flood of memories. I was at my mom's house, was in the attic stowing away xmas decorations for her, and stumbled upon my old trunk filled with my history. So I brought it back to dad's place with me tonight and started rummaging through it. The greatest find in the trunk was a box filled with mementos of my trip to China in 1995 that I took through the Duke TIP program. It was a memorable trip, and probably a monumental one as well, as I see it as a turning point in my life in many ways. We won't delve into that though. So I started remembering my friends on that trip and thought I might as well give a try on the internet and find out where they are and what they're up to. So far I've found two friends (although I haven't looked for everyone yet): Georgiana Williams and Kaki King. Georgiana was a good friend, who I shouldn't have lost touch with over the years. But I was able to find her again, and it turns out she ended up at NC State for school. Kinda curious cause I almost went there myself. Sounds like she's doing well though, winning all sorts of awards and graduating this year as well. Here's one of the pics I found with her and Esther (Esther on the right).
Kaki I found (well at least I think I found) through her music of course. I'm pretty sure it's her, as there can't be too many Kaki King's around. But she's on MP3.com at: http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/238/kaki_king.html Go check her stuff out. She's still doing solo guitar, and it's amazing! I still have the guitar that I bought in China for her to play music since she couldn't bring one with her.
Yep, that one there. :) Anyways, I'll try to get more China pics up on here in this folder. I really feel like I need to document this in a multimedia way as it was a trip that had a large impact on who I am today. I've got tons of material to do it with too. Perhaps this is a project I shall undertake once the whole graduation thing dies down and I figure out what the hell I'm going to do with my life. Oh well. Just a few more days till the end of break. Then it's back up to school. ick. But at least I've got Britni up there to help offset the work and worry. :) For now, sleep is my refuge though, as it's after 6am now. :P Anyways, lemme just throw in some names of people I went on this China trip with in hopes that perhaps a search engine finds them somehow.
