So yesterday I went in for three interviews at a job I was really wanting. As the interviews progressed it looked more and more like this was a place I would LOVE to work. I have never felt more comfortable in an interview. Hell, I've never felt comfortable at a job interview. But everyone I met was nice, and genuinely interested, and very friendly. I walked out feeling good about things, and I was right. Three hours later, I got a phone call and and they offered me the Developer Support Engineer position! Woohoo!! I was literally dancing around my apartment. I rushed to work (as I had agreed to work overtime on my day off) and unofficial let my supervisor and team lead that I would be officially putting in my letter of resignation and my two week notice on Monday. I have never been happier to come in to work. so as of Nov 8th, I will begin my new job at a friendly, fun, enjoyable, relaxed, challenging, interesting, and promising company. It's about time. :)
all because of this. Optical illusions are great.
My normal blog is being neglected now that I have a mobile photo blog going. It's so much easier to post on the go than to sit down and write up an entry. Just to catch up on things, the Sidekick II's finally came out. After a bit of confusion (for those in the know, I was a black monday victim), it finally arrived, and with much sadness I dropped my black and white sidekick int he return envelope. I do like a lot of things about the new sidekick. The form factor is much better as far as phone usage is concerned. It's slimmer and fits in my pocket better. Reception seems to be a bit better too. And the internal camera is real nice. 640x480 pictures, although still a little bit grainy and blurry, definitely a neat feature to have though. Of course as soon as I got it, I loaded my developer key and got to work loading stuff. NDA stuff NDA stuff NDA stuff.. and got it working like I wanted.
Other occurrences include Britni's burn awhile ago. Her blog describes it already, so I won't repeat it here. Suffice to say I was very glad she was ok.
Speaking of work, I won't say too much, but I had a phone screening with an excellent company. Sounds like a great place to work, right in line with the kind of environment I thrive in. To hear that there isn't any micro-managing was beautiful. I'm an adult, not a child or a robot that needs constant monitoring. The screening was technical and had me pulling up definitions from my school days. A little bit stressful, and I couldn't quite remember everything I needed to. But I hope they realize that I can hold my own, and once I'm in an environment I will pick back up on the skills and knowledge I need on a day to day basis. Just like how I can support 18-gazillion programs that I didn't even know existed 9 months ago. We can teach him, he can learn, we have the technology.
In other news, Havoc 2004 (see mobile blog and Havoc2004.com) was a blast. It's late, I'm going to bed now. Goodnight.
