I found a WordPress plugin namedSpam Karma 2, which was recently released. I installed it (aka, upload and activate the plugin) and took a quick look. Tons of settings and looks like it should do the trick.

When activating this plugin I ran into an old WordPress issue I hit time and time again with my plugins. WordPress sometimes won’t listen when I try to activate or deactivate plugins. I will receive a success message about the plugin being activated or deactivated, but it won’t actually perform the action. Usually I resolve this by deleting some plugins from the plugins directory, then activating and reuploading and activating the other plugins. Quite an odd workaround, but it seems to work. Anyone have any ideas on what’s going on?

I also like Last.fm because I’m a bit of a stats junkie and it’s interesting to see what my listening patterns truly are. Now I can combine the two with a great FireFox plugin.

PortaPuTTY stores all of its information in files on your USB drive rather than in the Windows registry, perfect for all you security hounds on-the-go. Aside from that small difference, it seems to look and work the same as the original.

Ed Note: I haven’t tried this yet, but it will definitely be my next addition to my thumbdrive if it does indeed work without leaving a trace on the machine.

I do most of my work on a widescreen laptop, so I usually have to jump on another machine to check the standard 640×480, 800×600, 1024×768 resolutions. I always wanted a utility that would automatically size a window in that size so I could easily check while I develop, but noone ever knew of one. One has finally been found with Sizer. I’ve had it installed for 2 seconds and I already love it. :) Thanks man!

The Guinness Widget is a neat feat of engineering and it does pour a halfway decent pint from a can, compared to what you’d get from a keg at a pub, but if you live in the UK you have another option as of this month. The Guinness Surger is a electrical device with a small metal plate on it; you pour a little water onto the plate, put a pint of the special Guinness Draught Surger Beer in place and then turn the power on, sending ultrasonic pulses up through the beer to create the creamy head we all know and love.

If that sounds incredible, you really need to watch the video and see it in action, it really is amazing to see in action. £16.99 for the starter kit which includes one Surger, a pint glass and two cans of Surger Beer, it’s currently only available at Tesco Extras in the UK.
